On every tongue drum listed you will find African Padauk used as the soundboard. There is simply no other wood that can duplicate the warm harmonic ring produced by this wood.On our 12 Key Standards we use a variety of Red Oak, which provides a very warm tone, for the sides. Red Oak is also the wood of choice for the sides on our Bass Giants.
The choice of woods that can be used is too long to make any complete list. If you would like a distinctly different look from the Oak sides, Black Walnut is a good choice for optional woods. I try to limit the woods I use to the sustainable woods and tend to avoid the exotic woods from rainforest areas.
And if you have your heart set on a specific type of wood, we're also happy to fulfill this requirement as well.
